  • Gary Holmes

    DVM

Dr. Holmes was born in Baltimore and raised in Glen Burnie. He served in the USMC from 1975-1979. He received his undergraduate education at the University of MD, Baltimore County class of 1983 and his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in 1987. He has been in practice for over 25 years as a small animal practitioner, including 6 years in Ellicott City and 7 years in Laurel. Dr. Holmes has been married for 30 years and has two daughters and a son. He has 4 dogs; the newest is a 1 Year old Goldendoodle. Dr.Holmes' hobbies include photography (especially of ballet and other performance art), and fishing. "As a high school student I had an aptitude for math and sciences. I also have a lifelong fascination with animals- I went to carnivals and local fairs to go to the petting zoos while everyone else my age was riding rides and playing games. Then, I read "All Creatures Great and Small" by James Herriott - and my future was set. When people ask me what I do I don't say: "I'm a veterinarian," I say: "I am an Animal Doctor." I am an Animal Doctor because it is what I was born to be, and I feel very fortunate to live that dream every day. . "Ballet makes me weep, pets make me smile" .

  • Melissa Springer

    DVM

Dr. Springer has been practicing Veterinary Medicine since 2001. Having grown up in Maryland, Dr. Springer now lives in Mt. Airy with her husband, 2 sons, her cat, Zoey, and her two dogs, Lola and Penny (pictured). She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and completed her clinical rotations at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Springer joined the team at VCA Columbia Animal Hospital at Centre Park in November of 2008 after practicing in Laurel, Maryland. In her free time, Dr. Springer enjoys reading, trips to the beach, and, most of all, spending time with her family in their new home. "Why do I love practicing veterinary medicine? It's never boring! My day is filled with new pets and people as well as old friends (furry and human). Getting to know my patients and their people and making them all feel at ease during their visits is really important to me. Caring for patients from puppy or kitten days through their golden years is a journey I treasure. It is an honor and privilege to share my time, knowledge and skills with my clients and their beloved pets. I can't imagine myself in any other career!".
